Welcome to the 2017 Florals by Locals Exhibition Online Submission Process.

Steps to Get Started

  1. Click the big Green Register button at the top right of this page to set up a username and password. Fill in the details requested.
  2. Once registered, click the "login" button and the "Add New Submission" button to enter. You must click the "add new submission" button for each piece of artwork you are submitting. You may have up to 2 submissions

About this Exhibition

Florals by Locals is a program of the Coronado Cultural Arts Commission creating opportunities for Coronado artists to display their two-dimensional floral art work at the annual Flower Show in Spreckels Park. Saturday, April 8 and Sunday, April 9, 2017.
  • The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission (CAC) is calling local artists to submit up to two original pieces of artwork for this exhibition. Artwork may be oils, watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, photography, fiber or other. 
  • Work must be original and the work of the registered applicant.
  • All artwork must be a floral or have a floral theme for this show and size of finished framed work can not exceed 24" x 36" (including frame).
  • Cost is $20 to submit this application. Assistance with the online application is available . Please contact Contract Arts Administrator Kelly Purvis at 619-341-0137 (direct cell) to arrange assistance.
  • Application fee may be waived if you wish to volunteer in the Florals by Locals Exhibition. Also, artists may volunteer to bring paints and an easel and paint on site during a scheduled time period. To volunteer and have the application fee waived please contact Contract Arts Administrator Kelly Purvis at 619-341-0137 (direct cell) or e-mail her at kpurvis@coronado.ca.us.
  • You may submit two pieces of artwork to display in this show. Art must be ready to hang with wire on back of the piece. Applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis and space is limited.


Final acceptance for inclusion in the exhibition will be subject to review and approval of the completed submitted art work.  Exhibition/display dates cannot be given or transferred to another person or organization. Exhibits cannot be changed after being installed without the permission of the CAC Visual Arts Commissioner or CAC Chair and the CAC Contract Arts Administrator.

Eligibility
Local artists, as defined by the Cultural Arts Commission, 18 years of age or older, or visual art groups representing Local artists may apply.  A local artist is defined as one who 1) lives in Coronado; 2) works a minimum of 20 hours per week in Coronado or 3) owns property in Coronado.
 
Artist Requirements 
  1. The artists must be 18 years of age and local.
  2. All artwork must be original and the work of the registered applicant. May not be an alteration of another’s work or assembled from a kit.
  3. The artist must submit an application, non-refundable application fee of $30 and a jpeg of each piece of work that are proposed to be exhibited.
  4. The artist must provide accurate information for each artwork exhibited listing: title, dimensions, price or NFS (Not for Sale).
  5.  The artist is responsible for the delivery and pickup of their artwork 
  6. All two-dimensional artwork must be framed or mounted and ready to hang.  All works must have the artist’s name, title and medium affixed to the back of every work entered in the exhibit.
  7. Artists are encouraged to publicize and promote this exhibition to their clients, contacts, public and the media.
  8. The artist shall complete the City of Coronado Waiver of Indemnity and Liability releasing the City of any liability from artwork damage, loss or theft.

Sales
Items for sale are encouraged, however, artist may choose to have art for “display only”.  All sales are to be run by the artist and the artist shall be solely responsible for the financial transactions of the sale and shall pay all applicable taxes.  All artists selling their work shall provide a California Seller’s Permit number on the application form. A 20% fee of artwork sold is payable at the end of the exhibition to the City of Coronado. 

Promotion and Advertising
Participating artist(s) are required to provide information to include on the CoronadoARTS.com CAC Artist Directory.  Local citywide promotion PR to be provided by CAC to local media outlets, CAC website, CAC Arts Partners and social media.  Exhibiting artist(s) are strongly encouraged to market to outside outlets, family, friends and client lists to publicize and promote this exhibition.  CAC will provide printed and electronic postcards and/or brochures for this show. Participating artists are strongly encouraged to disseminate the information by mail, email and social media.

CAC will provide standard gallery callouts for each selected artwork and can include the following information:  title, medium, year, artist name, price or NSF, contact information and website.

Cancellation
The Cultural Arts Commission reserves the right to suspend or cancel any exhibit should conditions warrant such action.
